Privacy policy
What personal data we process, why, who we share it with and how to exercise your rights. There are only three processing activities on this site, and only one asks you for any data.

1. Wildfire alerts by municipality
This is the only form on the site, and it is entirely optional.
- Data: your email address and the municipalities you choose to follow. If you allow it, also your coordinates, only to suggest the nearest municipality.
- Purpose: emailing you when there is active fire inside or near those municipalities.
- Legal basis: your consent (art. 6.1.a GDPR), with double confirmation by email: no alert is sent until you press the button in the confirmation email.
- Recipients: Brevo (France), which sends the emails as a processor, and Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany and Finland), which hosts the platform. There are no other transfers and no data is sold.
- Withdrawing consent: every email you receive carries an unsubscribe link that always works, no questions asked.
- Retention: while you stay subscribed and, after unsubscribing, [PLAZO DE CONSERVACIÓN].
2. The location you share voluntarily
The viewer never asks for your location on its own: only if you press “use my location”, and always after your browser asks for permission. You can pick the country and the municipality by hand and never share it.
The location is used on the spot, to turn your coordinates into a municipality and suggest it. It is not stored on our servers and is not linked to your email address.
That coordinates-to-municipality step (reverse geocoding) is done by BigDataCloud, in Australia. The request is made by our own server, not by your browser: BigDataCloud only receives coordinates rounded to three decimals —about 100 metres, enough to get the municipality right— and never your IP address or your browser.
Legal basis: your consent (art. 6.1.a GDPR), given when you accept the browser's location prompt and revocable in the browser's own settings.
3. Server logs
As on any website, when you request a page our hosting provider (Hetzner) logs the IP address, the date and time, the page requested and the browser. This keeps the service running and helps detect abuse or attacks.

Osprean also uses Microsoft Azure (EU and United States) for its secrets, its image registry and its staff identity; that service does not process data about visitors to this site.
This site has no analytics today: no Google Analytics and no other measurement. What would happen if it were switched on is described in the cookie policy.
Maps and data your browser requests
The map is drawn on your device, so it is your browser that requests the tiles and some layers. Those providers see your IP address, as does any server your browser asks something from:
- CARTO, with OpenStreetMap data: light and dark base map.
- Esri (United States): satellite base map.
- Copernicus CAMS / ECMWF: smoke layer.
- Mapzen / Tilezen Terrain Tiles: terrain on the map of a single fire.
International transfers
BigDataCloud is in Australia, and Esri and Cloudflare are in the United States. Those transfers rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and, for the United States, on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Your rights
You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and withdraw your consent at any time, by writing to info@osprean.com. For the alerts, the fastest route is the unsubscribe link in any of their emails.
If you believe we have not handled your request properly, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es).
Changes to this policy
If any processing activity changes, this page and the review date shown above are updated.
Language
This is a translation of the Spanish original. In case of any discrepancy, the Spanish version prevails. The bracketed placeholders are kept in Spanish on purpose: they mark details still pending.
